Are these reader sunglasses?

Nope. These sunglasses are for outdoor situations that don’t require lens magnification. We focused on portability to make Always With You suns for everyone.

We do however, offer Reading Sunglasses that come with a different glasses frame and style.  Please check them here

Why do I need these?

We’ve all faced the dilemma of what to do with our sunglasses when the sun sets—leave them on, store them in a bulky case, or hang them awkwardly. At ThinOptics, we’ve created a solution that blends style with practicality.

Our face-to-case-to-pocket design features an ultra-thin, durable metal case that keeps your sunglasses easily accessible when you need them and conveniently stored when you don’t—sliding effortlessly into your pocket without the bulk.

With ThinOptics, enjoy sleek, functional sunglasses ready for any adventure.

I hate bulky cases. How thin is this one?

We know bulky cases can be a hassle, so we designed the ThinOptics Suns case to be ultra-thin and unobtrusive. Made from durable brushed aluminum, it’s as slim as a passport and easily fits in your pocket, purse, or any tight space.

The case protects your sunglasses from breakage, even when your pocket is full of coins or keys. With a felt lining and magnetic closure, your lenses stay safe from scratches. When not in use, it practically disappears, offering a sleek, compact solution.

What are the frames made of?

ThinOptics sunglasses are built for strength and comfort. The frame front and temples are made of optical-grade stainless steel, offering resistance to breakage and corrosion. The bridge features a titanium-based shape memory alloy, ensuring the frame keeps its shape and provides a secure, comfortable fit.

The hinged temples allow for easy folding and compact storage, while the bio-compatible elastomer nose pads and temple tips ensure a comfortable, secure fit.

How does polarization work?

When light reflects off reflective surfaces such as metal, chrome, glass, ice, or water, it creates intense white glare. Polarized lenses effectively reduce this glare by filtering out the concentrated light, allowing you to see clearly and comfortably without the need to squint.

In addition to enhancing visual comfort, polarization improves visibility by eliminating glare on surfaces such as windshields, where light reflects off the dashboard, or on water, where surface reflections obscure your view. In both situations, polarized lenses enable you to see details that would otherwise be hidden.

Light attenuation? What exactly is that?

Sun lenses are designed to reflect and absorb excess light, allowing you to experience optimal visibility without discomfort from glare. We have selected three base lens colors, each engineered to block approximately 85% to 90% of bright light.

  • Flash Mirror Grey: This lens reflects a portion of light while allowing a balanced spectrum of light to pass through, ensuring that colors remain true to their natural balance.

  • Green: This lens allows approximately 16% of external light to filter through, maintaining a natural color balance while reducing glare.

  • Brown: Our brown lens significantly reduces blue light, enhancing color contrast and making colors appear more vibrant and distinct.

Each lens is carefully selected to improve visual comfort, ensuring clarity and reducing eye strain in various light conditions.

Anything else special about the lenses?

In addition to polarization and light attenuation, all high-quality lenses are equipped with an anti-reflective coating on the backside. This coating reduces unwanted reflections from behind the lens, effectively eliminating visual artifacts that can distort your view. As a result, the lenses provide clearer, more accurate vision, enhancing your overall visual experience.

How do I store my sunglasses?

To store your sunglasses, begin by folding each temple so that the back half is parallel and positioned next to the front half. Then, close the temples so they lie flat against the back of the lenses. Place the folded sunglasses face down on the felt lining, ensuring the lenses fit securely inside the well.

This arrangement will allow the magnetized top half of the "clamshell" case to close seamlessly. The built-in magnets will hold the case securely shut, and it can even be stored on a metallic surface.

To reopen the case, simply use your thumbs to gently separate the top and bottom halves, and then reverse the procedure to store your sunglasses once again.

I break my sunglasses all the time. How are these different?

Many metal sunglasses are made from materials that can bend or break over time. However, by incorporating a titanium-based shape memory alloy in the bridge, ThinOptics sunglasses are designed to flex and then return to their original shape, ensuring both a comfortable fit and enhanced durability.

In addition, our 6mm thick, felt-lined brushed aluminum case provides superior protection, safeguarding your sunglasses from wear and tear that would typically damage standard frames. This combination of advanced materials and thoughtful design ensures your ThinOptics sunglasses remain as reliable and durable as they are stylish.

How will they feel on my face?

ThinOptics sunglasses are designed for ultra-light comfort, making them ideal for all-day wear. The shock-absorbing, bio-compatible nose pads gently conform to the shape of your nose, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. Additionally, the ultra-thin elastomeric temple tips enhance the fit, providing added security.

Thanks to their lightweight construction and ergonomic design, you’ll barely notice you’re wearing them, allowing you to enjoy optimal comfort throughout the day.
